Joe Maguire: An Advocate for Veterans in Recovery
As an Iraqi War veteran who served, Joe brings a deeply personal understanding to the challenges faced by veterans struggling with substance use disorder. His own journey of recovery, has fueled his passion for supporting fellow veterans on similar paths.
In the years following his service, Joe dedicated himself to community leadership and volunteerism. His impactful tenure as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 406 in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, and his foundational role in establishing Boy Scout Troop 557 in Sarver, Pennsylvania, where he served as Scoutmaster for six years, highlight his commitment to nurturing positive environments for growth and leadership.
His involvement extended to civic responsibilities, serving on the homeowners association board for four years, demonstrating his dedication to community welfare and development.
For Joe, volunteering isn’t just an activity; it’s a way to connect with and support those who have shared similar experiences. His goal in founding Veterans Overwatch Foundation is ambitious yet heartfelt: to reach and aid every veteran in Western Pennsylvania battling PTSD, substance use disorder and or homelessness. His firsthand experience as a veteran who has walked this path gives him unique insights into the needs and challenges of this community.
Through his vision and unwavering commitment, Joe seeks to ensure that every veteran in need receives the understanding, opportunity and friendship necessary to navigate their journey toward recovery.
