Joe Maguire: An Advocate for Veterans in Recovery
As an Iraqi War veteran who served, Joe brings a deeply personal understanding to the challenges faced by veterans struggling with substance use disorder. His own journey of recovery, has fueled his passion for supporting fellow veterans on similar paths.
In the years following his service, Joe dedicated himself to community leadership and volunteerism. His impactful tenure as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 406 in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, and his foundational role in establishing Boy Scout Troop 557 in Sarver, Pennsylvania, where he served as Scoutmaster for six years, highlight his commitment to nurturing positive environments for growth and leadership.
His involvement extended to civic responsibilities, serving on the homeowners association board for four years, demonstrating his dedication to community welfare and development.
For Joe, volunteering isn’t just an activity; it’s a way to connect with and support those who have shared similar experiences. His goal in founding Veterans Overwatch Foundation is ambitious yet heartfelt: to reach and aid every veteran in Western Pennsylvania battling PTSD, substance use disorder and or homelessness. His firsthand experience as a veteran who has walked this path gives him unique insights into the needs and challenges of this community.
Through his vision and unwavering commitment, Joe seeks to ensure that every veteran in need receives the understanding, opportunity and friendship necessary to navigate their journey toward recovery.
Kent Snyder, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, served notably during Operation Desert Storm as part of the Submarine Force aboard the USS Pennsylvania. This significant experience underpins his dedicated work with the foundation, focusing on supporting veterans battling substance abuse. Kent's approach combines deep empathy with an unwavering commitment, reflecting a continuous journey of service to those who have served our nation.
Kristen is a registered nurse, bringing over fifteen years of healthcare experience with a specialized focus on women’s and neonatal health. Kristen holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Capella University, underscoring her commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Kristen’s career has been marked by her compassionate approach to nursing and her unwavering commitment to patient care. Her expertise and dedication have been instrumental in delivering high-quality care and advancing nursing practices in her field.
Outside of her professional realm, Kristen is most proud of her role as a mother. Her personal motto, “Be kind,” reflects her approach both in her professional life and at home. This simple yet powerful philosophy guides her interactions and decisions, emphasizing empathy and understanding in all aspects of life.
Looking to the future, Kristen aspires to continue her journey in helping others, most recently achieving her goal of stepping into the role of a Chief Nursing Officer. Her passion for nursing and her drive to make a positive impact in healthcare positions her as a valuable leader and an inspiration to those around her.
Anthony, a proud resident of Sarver for 18 years, answered the call to serve in the army in 1972. His journey took an unexpected turn when an auto accident prevented him from fulfilling his duties. Despite this setback, Anthony received an honorable medical discharge. Throughout his life, Anthony has been a private businessman and real estate owner. He finds purpose and fulfillment with the Veterans Overwatch Foundation, where he works alongside fellow heroes, grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their cause.
Dave Chrzan served in the US Air Force from 1971-75. He was with the Strategic Air Command, 43rd Combat Support Group, at Andersen AFB, Guam.
He is the son of a decorated WWII US Navy veteran.
Dave’s past business experiences in transportation and communications, along with volunteer efforts (youth sports, Mental Health Association, Veterans Leadership Program, United Way) will help him assist the Veterans Overwatch Foundation to continue and expand our operation.
Dave is inspired by the dedication and selflessness of the Veteran Overwatch Foundation. He is thankful to be part of their mission to serve veterans.
